What Can Be Assessed Remotely

Modern telemedicine musculoskeletal assessment has validated protocols for every major body region — spine, shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. Without in-person palpation, we use video-based observation, patient-performed tests, and functional movement screens.

Posture Analysis

Photos from front, side, and back allow complete postural deviation mapping — identifying which muscles are shortened, which are elongated, and where kinetic chain compensation has installed.

Gait Assessment

A 15-second walking video reveals load-sharing patterns, timing asymmetries, and compensation strategies that drive downstream pain.

Functional Movement Screen

Squat depth, single-leg stance, overhead reach, and hip ROM videos replace most palpation findings for the purposes of treatment planning.

Special Orthopedic Tests

Many validated orthopedic tests can be patient-performed at home while observed via video — Spurling's, SLR, FABER, Thessaly, and more.

What You'll Need for a Remote Assessment

1

A Smartphone or Computer with Camera

Any video call platform works — Zoom, FaceTime, Google Meet. We'll guide you through each assessment step in real time.

2

Posture Photos (Taken Before the Call)

Front, back, and both side views in shorts/tank top. Standing barefoot on a flat surface. Send these before your appointment and Cameron will have a preliminary read before you connect.

3

A Clear Floor Area

Approximately 10 feet of clear space for walking video and functional movement tests.

4

Your Complete History

All injuries — including old ones, especially ones you've been told are "healed." Every ankle sprain, every car accident, every significant fall. The oldest injuries often drive the current symptoms.

What You Get from a Remote Assessment

Remote Laser Protocol Guidance

For patients who rent or own a cold laser device, remote consultations include protocol design: which areas to treat, which frequencies to use, duration per site, and how to progress as your tissue phases change. This service is particularly valuable for patients who have purchased a laser device and need clinical guidance on using it correctly.
